Button
The most common type of mushroom in the U.S., button mushrooms are
related to cremini and portabellos; the difference is their age. Think
of buttons as the youngsters, cremini as a teenager, and portabellos as
an adult. For a delicious side dish, sauté button mushrooms in butter
and thyme with a splash of white wine.
Crimini
Another form of agaricus bisporus—cremini mushrooms (also known as baby
bellas) are just an older version of the button mushroom. Because of
their age, they are a bit browner and firmer, which means they're great
for soups and stews as they maintain some texture when cooked.
Portabello
A type of agaricus bisporus, the portobello is the oldest variety of the
three featured here. While they were once only imported from Italy, they
now grow all over the United States. Thanks to their large size and
meaty flavor, they can be swapped in for meat on pretty much
anything—sandwiches, pizza, pasta sauces, omelettes, and more!
Maitake
The grifola frondosa species is also known as "hen-of-the-woods," "ram's
head," and "sheep's head." Popular for centuries in Japanese and Chinese
cuisine, the maitake generally grows at the base of oak trees. Add them
to pizza or ramen for a hearty meat alternative.
Liberty Cap
Psilocybe, the genus name, means 'smooth head' - a reference to the
silkily mooth, scaleless surface of caps of these grassland mushrooms.
The specific epitet semilanceata comes from semi- meaning 'half'and
-lanceata which means 'spear-shaped'. Some of these little mushrooms do
indeed look like spears, although many have wiggly stems
uncharacteristic of spear shafts.
B+
The B+ magic mushroom is a Psilocybe cubensis, a species of psychedelic
mushroom. It's main active elements are psilocybin and psilocin. The p.
cubensis species is the most known psilocybin mushroom. Their status is
established because p. cubensis are widely distributed and very easy to
cultivate.
Golden Teacher
Psilocybe cubensis Golden Teacher is a strain of magic mushroom that
grows in the wild in many parts of the world. It is one of the most
popular magic mushrooms in the world. It is a very potent mushroom with
a high psilocybin content. The Golden Teacher is a very popular strain

Laughing Gym
Gymnopilus junonius is a type of mushroom-forming fungus in the family
Hymenogastraceae. Commonly known as the spectacular rustgill, this large
orange mushroom is typically found growing on tree stumps, logs, or tree
bases. Some subspecies of this mushroom contain the neurotoxic
oligoisoprenoid gymnopilin.
